Night Away: {Garden Manor & Black Watch}

This year for Christmas, my stellar in-laws got Pete and I a stay at a B&B and a dinner sailing trip.
We were anxious for the winter weather to move along so we could enjoy our gift.
And it did not disappoint!

We began our night away at the {Garden Manor Bed & Breakfast} in Grapevine, TX.
Judy, the owner, was so sweet and inviting!  She exudes Southern charm and hospitality.

yays: We got upgraded to the Country French room.
The grounds and room were beautiful, clean, and intriguing.
The house is built from material of two separate houses that were built between 1914-1915.
Breakfast was so good.

nays: We didn’t do our research and booked for the weekend of {Main Street Days} in Grapevine.
The B&B is about 50 yards away…so we got a nice little rock concert until 12:30am.

After settling into our room, we headed down to Grapevine lake for our dinner and sailing trip.

We were greeted at the marina by Capt. Dave who was 100% captain and 100% Texas charm.
On the way to the sailboat, he described it’s great history and creation.  Once we reached the {Black Watch}, we were sent downstairs to enjoy our meal.
Enjoy we did!

yays: Beautiful sailboat with a rich history.
Incredibly friendly captain and crew!
4-course Italian dinner (appetizer sampler, fresh bread with amazing sweet cream butter, a salad with a tomato paste dressing to-die-for, tortellini in a four cheese and pink vodka sauce, and cheesecake for dessert)!
Drinking wine on the deck.
Watching the sunset over the lake.
Relaxing more than I have in months.  It was fantastic.

nays: The lake is right by the airport, so airplanes are visible for the entirety of your sail.

Pete and I seriously had the most relaxing evening!  Everyone we came into contact with had that striking small-town charm.
And we got to spend a whole evening doing the things we love most: hanging out together, eating fantastic food, drinking great wine, and being outdoors.

{PS – The Black Watch does sailing tours during the summer to watch fireworks and you can make it BYOB.  It would make a great friends night out!}
